About

Self Portrait circa 2019

My name is Ziyah Piltz, and I am a Photographer in Tiffin, OH that serves the greater Seneca County area. When I’m not taking pictures, I’m writing for the Advertiser-Tribune in Tiffin, OH as a staff reporter- primarily focusing on community and outdoor events.

I would love to work with you, but why me?

First of all, I’m transparent. I will tell you anything you want to know pertaining to our work together.

Secondly, I’m affordable.

Unless I missed something, my bills aren’t getting any cheaper, so I would love to be able to help at a price that benefits both of us.

Lastly, I’m one of a kind.

My focus in photography is to share exactly what I saw through my eyes with the world, without completely changing the picture. I am proficient in photoshop and typically do MINOR adjustments, if any.

Photography Background

Regarding photos, I have been taking pictures since the 5th grade and started to commit to my photography skills in my sophomore year of high school when I purchased my trust camera- a Sony A6000 mirrorless.

My first photography class was back in my sophomore year of high school, Intro to Photography. It was there that I learned the importance of shooting in both RAW and standard format. I moved on to take Advanced Photography in my junior year and submitted two photos to the school’s art contest. Here, I began to really get comfortable with Adobe Suite.

Recently, I graduated from Heidelberg University in 2022 with a Communications degree and a focus on integrated media. I spent most (if not all) of my college career developing graphics for various classes and activities I was directly involved with on campus.

While at university I also took Photography 101, where I was able to continue to develop my photo editing skills, as well as my skills behind the lens with the guidance of various professionals and educators.

To this day, that camera and a simple tripod (along with the right lighting conditions) have allowed me to capture countless beautiful images, whether it be landscapes, portraits, or even some sporting events.

Today, I have worked with a number of organizations and individuals as a reporter covering and taking high-quality photos of events in Seneca County.

Why is it called Knub Foto?

For those who haven’t met me yet, I was born with a rare congenital hand disorder called symbrachydactyly, which caused me to be born with only a thumb on my left hand.

My whole life, I’ve heard comments, received looks, all of it…but the best way I’ve found to deal with it is just to own it and be myself.

To those of you who are afraid to be yourselves because you’re a little different… just be yourself, there’s enough normal in the world already.
